After interviewing my client on their medical history and the medications that they take, I was under the impression that the client had a good handle on their medications. There weren’t any major safety concerns that jumped out. I mainly emphasized the importance of knowing what symptoms to report and what outcomes are expected. The client was also knowledgeable about how and when to administer their medications. I only provided a suggestion of keeping an alarm to not miss dosages, especially for their oral contraceptive. The client particularly was unaware that supplements are not usually regulated by the FDA. They were also not knowledgeable on the daily recommended dietary values for Vitamin C and thought that it wouldn’t matter if they took as many vitamins as they wanted in a day. Discussing their overall understanding of their medications enabled me to gain accurate representation of what their day to day life was life and what potential barriers they might face.
