Final Reflection: EBP

Looking back on the course I learned that it took much more awareness to find reputable evidence based articles and journals. It definitely helped starting with a topic I had an interest in. It was sometimes difficult to differentiate whether or not the article actually pertained to the PICOT question. However, I also learned that even though some research results did not line up with what the expected outcome was, it was still a crucial piece of information that can be used to inspire further inquiry. It is important to note that certain topics haven’t been explored as much yet and don’t have adequate research supporting it. The field of healthcare is a constantly changing environment that should try its best to move with the progression of humanity. Unbiased, well researched articles are sometimes difficult to pull off. As a nurse, one of the front liner in the healthcare team, it is our job to take note, observe and advocate for a better outcome for our patients. This starts with information that is reliable and safe. It is also the job of nurses to be educators for the public about what is going on with their health and how to explain interventions and methods for health concerns. With this responsibility, it would be reckless to implement interventions without the proper research to back it up with.
